Random Tuesday Morning
I'm gonna just spew, okay? Nothing major, just stuff that's swirlin' in this "brown with a splash of grey" haired head of mine.
I enjoyed playing Ultimate this weekend. Worked hard. Got the disk a few times. Felt like I contributed to the team, which was a really good feeling.
Yesterday I was a LOUSY mommy. I yelled at Maddie, dropped her off at school and then felt so sick and sad about that until I picked her up. I just lost it. We were running late, she was going slow ... I felt so sad for her all day. What kind of mommy yells at her sweet girl? Last night my prayer and accountability gals empathized and also challenged me to give myself a little grace. I had asked the Lord to forgive me, and He did. And now I needed to forgive myself. So, I'm working on that.
I called the 1-800 number to validate my college alumni information and the lady asked what my occupation is and I majorly hesitated and then squeaked out "photographer". That felt really weird and I thought to myself, "Can I call myself that?" "Am I allowed?" And then I thought, "Yes. I am a photographer. I did 3 photo shoots this past weekend. That counts. I'm going for it. So YES, I'm a photographer." And I would usually add my standard disclaimer here {that I'm not professional, that I'm just learning, that I have a long way to go, etc., but I'll refrain.} I am a photographer. And that feels SO amazing.
Speaking of photo shoots. I loved EVERY second of all 3 of them. It's exhilarating, really. I was super nervous leading up to photo shoot number 3 as it involved 13 people {grandma, grown kids and grandkids}. But once I was there I was totally fine. I'll post some pictures in the coming days on each of those shoots.
I stepped in dog doo-doo today and I HATED that. I mean, pick up the poop people. PICK.IT.UP. Don't be lazy if you forget the plastic bag. Go back and get it. If you have a dog and you live in the city then you HAVE to pick it up. Very, VERY irritating. Infuriating, truth be told.
Got a cute pair of polka-dot flats today. Polka dots make me so very happy. Always have and no doubt, always will. I love them. And then I promptly got a blister walking Jackson home from school. See, this is why I love flip flops. No chance for blisters. Oh well, I'll press on, put on an Indonesia band-aid (because they are the very best in the whole wide world) and will pay the price for beauty.
Jackson states loudly and often that he loves pink and purple. I'm not going to be concerned. Yet. And he's sitting here beside me 'lacing' little plastic figures with a shoe lace and I see major, major ear wax in his sweet little ears. What's a mom to do? I just can't stay on top of all the demands. Ear wax. Bottom wiping. Sippy filling. Homework helping. Belly aching.
I have no idea what to make for supper and it's 2:20pm. Oh if I had only gotten my act together this morning and thrown something in the crocker.
Here I am on one of the photo shoots from this weekend. On our industrial shoot Nicole said, "Hey, let me take a picture of you." And so I let her, and I'm glad I did!
And so now I must go figure out the food situation for tonight. I'm open for last minute ideas ... or an invite over to your house if that's easier for you! Whatever, you pick.
