One-on-One LOVE || Celebrating the love of a parent and a child || Chicagoland family photographer

Somewhere along the line
I realized that while my love for each of my children is
equally
fierce, beautiful and strong,
how that love plays out in each of our relationships looks different.

And through the years,
as I’ve photographed dozens and dozens (and dozens) of families
I've witnessed that unique love unfold in your families, too.

Capturing the way
a parent interacts with each individual child
is, perhaps,
among the greatest joys of my career.

The way Dad throws a child high in the air.
The way Mom tenderly moves that stray hair that slipped across a forehead.
The look exchanged.
The 'Can I have a snack, mommy?'
The 'Pick me up, Daddy."
The chasing in circles.
The tickle monsters.
The snuggles.

Wanna know what speaks volumes
to every little person's heart?

As in every.single.little.person.
on.the.planet?

Time.
Play.
Your undivided attention.
In a day and age where a faster, busier lifestyle is the norm,
there's something
soul-level moving
about
slowing down and savoring a moment.

Not rushing.
No agenda.
Just being.
Together.
So yesterday morning
I tried out an idea I've had floating around
in this cute head of mine (HA!)
for years.

What if I did a session with
one parent
and
one child?
This sweet mother/daughter duo
just celebrated their one-year 'gotcha' anniversary a few weeks ago.
Talk about a mother's fierce, beautiful, strong love for her daughter.

A love so fierce that it crossed oceans to bring
her forever daughter home.

Let's celebrate one-on-one love!

Like hand-holding.
And twirling and gigging
and giggling and twirling.
And peek-a-boo'ing.
And 'steal a kiss-ing.

Smelling the roses.
Swinging.
Step-sitting and hip-hoppin'.
I share all this because I've had this dream
that I'm puttin' on the table.

I've wanted to celebrate unique one-on-one parental love,

so I’m going to try something new.

For the first time ever,
I'm offering
‘One-on-One’
mini sessions.
One parent.
One child.
That's it.

If you show up with more than one child
I might have to feed them nine lollipops,
one full packet of Starburst
and hand them a puppy to take home.
Plus, the loudest toy that won't stop making noise forever and ever.
The end.

SO
....

You pick a time slot.
You pick one child.
You spend ½ an hour in front of my lens with just that child.
No other distractions.
No splitting your time between children.
You’ll get to cuddle and play and walk and talk
and simply BE with that one child
and I’ll capture your unique love,
whatever that love looks like.

This is a full-on candid session.

We're gonna wander and you do your thing
-- which is to be the incredible parent that you are --
and I'm just gonna quietly capture your love.
And then,
you pick another time slot for the next child.
And repeat the experience.

I'm fine if you want to stack them

back-to-back-to-back.
We'll work out something that works for you
and your schedule.
I'm flex like that!

I’m also confident that in decades to come,
the images from these one-on-one sessions will be
some of
the most precious gifts
you could
ever give to your children.
And to yourself.
The fact that you took time out of your busy lives
to slow down
and document
your unique love
with each child?

BOY HOWDY
will that ever be a treasure.

For parent
and
child.

You'll each see the love in the images.
The love of arms wrapped tight.
And smiles directed solely at each other.
The little games you played together.
The rhymes and the motions.

Your child will remember your smell.
And how your curls felt as they snuggled in tight.

Maybe your child is a teen
and you're in this really cool new phase
where you hang out more
and talk more
and laugh in a different way together.
I can capture that, too.

I really don't think there's an age limit on this.
Maybe you want to capture you and your own mother's love.
What love looks like at 65 and 35.
Or 75 and 50.

I would be absolutely honored to dial in on the unique

parent/adult child relationship.

I’m all about celebrating,
so why not celebrate
the unique way we love our children.
One-on-one love.

No matter the age of the parent
or child.

Alrighty folks.

Let's do this!
