Favorite Book This Month
Every once in awhile you come across a book that becomes a catalyst for change in your life.
Just a few minutes ago I finished what I would say will probably be one of the most powerful books I have, or ever will, read.
It was heart-wrenching.
And moving.
Inspiring.
And challenging.
Reading this book will result in pretty radical action. Once you are "in-the-know" you can't sit back.
The book...Daughters of Hope by Kay Marshall Strom and Michele Rickett.
The organization... Sisters in Service. Click here to go check it out.
Be forewarned. You will sob. Your mouth will drop open in horror as you read the suffering and affliction that many, many women are facing world-wide, simply because they are Christ-followers.
I had barely placed the finished book on the couch and I was emailing my friend Catherine, letting her know that we needed to get together ASAP so that we could brainstorm on what to do next. Catherine is the one that passed this book on to me this fall, sharing how powerful this book was in her own life.
The gist of the book goes something like this: The authors traveled around the world, specifically to meet women that were being persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ. Each section begins with an introduction to the country, setting the stage for the spiritual climate of that country. And then, they tell the stories of various ladies facing persecution within those countries.

If you're ready to start {or continue} your journey of becoming aware of those that NEED - truly need - our help, then pick up this book. You can order it here. And I highly recommend it. It'll be worth the $12.00. I promise.
My guess is that after you finish the book you will be moved to action. On behalf of the least, the last, and the lost.
I'm pretty sure that one of these Friday nights when Jack goes to jail, that I'm going to have a night of praying for the specific ladies from the book. Real live women that right this minute are suffering for Jesus. So, if you purchase the book and want to join me for that evening, please leave a comment and I'll coordinate a date.
I become more and more convinced that we CAN make a difference. If we're willing to be intentional. And if we're willing to leave margin in our lives for the things that God lays on our hearts.
