Big Day for the Boys

Jackson and Triston had quite the day, beginning with their school Spring Assembly. Both of them saw me and then it would register that it was me and then they really smiled.
Every day after preschool this is the view I see ... the two of them racing for the car. We dodge people and objects and eventually get to the car where they both shout "I won. We both won because we did our best." {Early, early on - like the beginning of the school year - they would say "I won" and then get sad if they didn't win, so I began saying, "We all won because we all did our best." And somehow it stuck and seemed to minimize the tears and frustration.}

Last week Triston told his mommy that he wanted to go to KINGS with Jackson and Miss Alysa. He had seen the sign, with "pizza" underneath it and just thought it seemed like a place we needed to go. So Sara gave us money to go out after school for a special date. It's this local dive restaurant nearby and we passed it on the way home from school one day and the rest, as we say, is history.

The boys could HARDLY wait to get there. Talk about so excited.
They were bouncing off the car ceiling on the way ... We had to take pictures before going in and low-and-below, Jackson pulled out his own camera and told Triston to "Say cheese my friend." Too hilarious.

They were CRAZY about the blue swirly chairs. I think they each got their fingers a couple of times but not one tear. They played and swirled and swirled some more. They both wanted pizza and chocolate milk. And I shared my fries and of course they had to have their own individual ketchup containers.

We were there for a good hour. Just playing and taking the occasional bite of pizza. And laughing and giggling. Those two have such a cute time together. I actually sat at a different table so they could have the freedom to spread out and play and eat without knocking my camera off the table!

Oh, here's a funny thing I overheard. There they were, just talking to each other and I heard them talking about GIRLS. Yes, GIRLS. Triston said, "I like Marianna from our school." And then Jackson said, "Well, I like Marianna, too!" And then they both started just saying things like, "Well I like all the girls in my school." Very funny. They were quite communicative!

And then afterwards we had to get an ice cream cone at McDonald's. Whoa - talk about excited about THAT, too.

I gave them each their own little coupon for a free cone and then went up to the counter and ordered. Too cute.
And then we found an outdoor bus bench and watched the traffic go by. Triston was hilarious - he just couldn't quite lick fast enough ... this picture makes me want to die - SO STICKY. Good thing for wipes in the car!

They played around on the bench and loved when the fire engine roared by. So this is what I learned today. Friends are the best. It doesn't take much to have a good time. Just a swirly chair and an outdoor bench.

OH, and maybe a slice of pizza and an ice cream cone!
